Once more a Cannabis inspired song from Willie Nelson but this in collaboration with Merley Haggard with 4/20 in mind. The album was released on June 2nd, 2015 with title indicating respect to Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, two most influential figure on Willie's guitar playing and Merley's songwriting, who Willie considered as one of the best.
The recording video of the song shows Willie Nelson smoking cannabis with Merley trying to keep up. Merley letter admitted he only smoked cause of Willie. According to the producer Buddy Cannon, it was a surreal experience with two country legend in one room. "It was like two long lost brothers coming together, a family reunion" he said.
Out came stories of old times when Merley ordered a huge coffin, all dressed up and called room service. Jokes and fun all around for 3-4 days and the album came into being. According to the producer Bob, he just stayed out of the way and let two greats do their job.
"Sure made me cry and I have not cried in 40 years" Willie noted at one point.
